The cabecar language is spoken in the canton of Buenos Aires, province of Puntarenas, and in the canton of Talamanca, province of Limón. The Bribri language is spoken in two regions: on the Atlantic side of the Talamanca mountain range, canton of Talamanca, province of Limón, and on the peaceful side of the Talamanca mountain range, canton of Buenos Aires, province of Puntarenas. It belongs to the isthmic subgroup, Western isthmic branch, vice substrama, of the Chibcha family (Constenla 2008).
